China's Premier Li to Speak at Import Expo Opening Ceremony
Forex - According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo, which will be held this week.
The Foreign Ministry's announcement states that leaders from Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Serbia are expected to attend the opening ceremony and other events of the seventh import expo, which will take place in Shanghai from Tuesday to Saturday.
Launched by President Xi Jinping in 2018, the expo serves as an opportunity for China to showcase its opening-up and reform agenda as the world’s second-largest economy faces rising global trade barriers and domestic challenges. While attempting to transform its economy, China is also competing with the U.S. and Europe in key industries, including semiconductors and electric vehicles. The European Union is planning to send representatives to the country soon for further negotiations regarding price commitments in the ongoing electric vehicle tariff dispute.
