ADVERTISING BOARD WARNS: MEASURES TO BE TAKEN AGAINST VICTIMIZATION RISKS IN DISCOUNT SALES
The Advertising Board decided to investigate numerous advertisements and commercial practices regarding discount sales. Out of 14 cases that have completed examination, 12 were found to be non-compliant. Considering that November discounts are still ongoing, it is crucial for our consumers to avoid victimization by:
- Accurately identifying their needs before shopping,
- Conducting preliminary research about the seller/provider,
- Researching the price of the goods or services compared to similar items,
- Paying attention to the discount amounts or rates,
- Checking whether the website address belongs to the seller or provider,
- Being cautious about pages directed through social media channels,
- Verifying the presence of security elements like SSL certificates and 3D security on the website,
- Thoroughly reading the preliminary information that must be communicated to consumers before making a payment is of utmost importance.
