Google Advances AI to Automate Web Crawling Tasks
Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Inc's Google is in the process of developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology that will autonomously operate a web browser for activities such as web research and online shopping. This initiative, known internally as Project Jarvis, is expected to be showcased in December alongside the introduction of Google’s upcoming Gemini large language model.
This development, as reported by The Information, aims to elevate human-computer interaction by allowing AI to directly interact with a person's computer or browser. This would represent a significant step in the ability of AI to perform complex tasks without human intervention.
Similarly, Microsoft-backed OpenAI is working on models designed to operate based on information collected from the web, referred to as "CUA" or computer-using agents. This project, mentioned by Reuters in July, enables the agent to act based on information gathered from the web.
Both Anthropic and Google are pushing the boundaries of AI technology by developing software that can directly interact with the user’s digital interface, potentially simplifying the way online tasks are completed.
Currently, Google has not responded to inquiries about this new AI technology.
