Japan aims to triple sales of semiconductor manufacturers
The Japanese government aims to triple the sales of semiconductor, parts and materials manufacturers to 15 trillion yen ($113 billion). The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) plans to review the Semiconductor and Digital Industry Strategy, which was first prepared in 2021, in 2023. Accordingly, it will be required to triple the sales of semiconductor and related parts and materials manufacturers to 15 trillion yen by 2030 through investment. In the new strategy, METI will emphasize the need for public and private sector investment of 11 trillion yen, including R&D, in the sector in question over the next 10 years. In 2020, sales of semiconductor, parts and materials manufacturers in Japan were recorded as 5 trillion yen. This rate corresponds to 10 percent of the global pie.
