Boeing Employees to Vote on New Contract Proposal to End Strike on Monday

The union representing striking Boeing factory workers announced that its members will vote on a new contract offer that provides for a slightly higher wage increase than the company's proposal rejected last week. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) stated that Boeing's latest offer would increase wages by 38% over four years or approximately 43% compounded. About 33,000 IAM members have been on strike for seven weeks, halting production of most Boeing airline jets, including the best-selling 737 Max. The strike began on September 13 when more than 94% of voting workers rejected a proposal for a 25% increase over four years. Last week, 64% also rejected a proposal to increase overall wages by 35% over four years.
