Turkey's Natural Gas Imports Grew by 5.74% in August
In August, the volume of natural gas imported by Turkey showed an increase of 5.74% compared to the same month last year. According to a report published by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), natural gas imports rose from 3 billion 681.35 million Sm3 in August of last year to 3 billion 892.53 million Sm3 in the same month this year.
Of the imports, 384.73 million Sm3 was LNG, while 3 billion 507.8 million Sm3 was pipeline gas. The share of LNG accounted for 9.88%, while pipeline gas represented 90.12%.
Natural gas production increased by 417.6% to reach 217.80 million Sm3, while exports rose by 324.88% to 189.76 million Sm3. Turkey's natural gas consumption decreased by 3.61%, totaling 3 billion 383.62 million Sm3, compared to 3 billion 510.34 million Sm3 in the same month last year.
Thus, at the end of August, stocks were recorded at 4 billion 327.06 million Sm3, reflecting a decrease of 17.71%. At the end of August last year, the stocks were at 5 billion 258.32 million Sm3.
