The limit for declaring Turkish Lira when departing abroad has been increased.
An important increase has been made in the amount of Turkish lira that can be carried by passengers when traveling abroad, as announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. According to the regulation published in the Official Gazette, the declaration limit has been raised from 25,000 TL to 185,000 TL. Passengers carrying more than this amount will still be required to declare it to customs.
The new regulation not only pertains to cash transportation but also includes provisions related to capital market transactions. Securities, derivative instruments, and other capital market products traded in foreign financial markets will continue to be processed through banks and brokerage firms authorized by the Capital Markets Board. Transactions with foreign financial institutions can be carried out by individuals at their discretion, provided there is no promotional or marketing activity, while fund transfers for such transactions must be conducted through banks.
