Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 1,418 suspects have been detained since March 19, 2025, for participating in protests. In a statement on social media, he emphasized the determination of security forces in their duties.
He highlighted that there are currently 979 suspects still in custody, with 478 individuals scheduled to be brought before judicial authorities. Yerlikaya firmly stated that there would be no concessions to those attempting to terrorize the streets and reaffirmed the unwavering stance against attacks on national and spiritual values. He also condemned the insults directed at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's late mother and family, underscoring the importance of security forces in maintaining peace and safety for the nation. Following unauthorized protests in Saraçhane, 55 individuals were detained for insulting the President and his family, leading to a comprehensive investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
