Xiaomi Introduces New Electric SUV to Compete with Tesla Model Y
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is entering the electric vehicle market this summer with its first SUV model, the YU7. According to official documents published by Reuters on Thursday, the new electric crossover SUV offers a range of 770 kilometers on a single charge.
Developed as a direct competitor to Tesla's Model Y, the YU7 combines the features of a traditional crossover SUV with an electric powertrain. The vehicle will also be available in versions with ranges of 675 km and 760 km. The Ministry of Industry has included the YU7 among models eligible for purchase tax reductions to promote electric vehicle sales. Meanwhile, Tesla has recently updated the Model Y, with deliveries of the redesigned version starting at the end of February, showcasing improved ranges for both long-range and rear-wheel-drive versions.
