Spotify Renews Podcast Deal with Bill Simmons - Bloomberg
Spotify Technology SA has renewed its contract with popular podcast host and media executive Bill Simmons, according to Bloomberg News. The announcement made on Wednesday confirmed that Simmons will continue to work with the Swedish audio streaming giant for at least two more years.
The 55-year-old Simmons will keep producing his signature show, which covers sports and pop culture topics. He will also retain his role as the head of the company's talk strategy, reporting directly to Roman Wasenmüller, head of Spotify’s podcast business. Prior to the renewal, there were rumors that Simmons might leave Spotify when his contract expired, largely due to the company's decision to reduce its investment in original podcast content. Contrary to these speculations, Simmons actively continued to add new programs to his portfolio and made significant contributions to Spotify’s video content initiatives.
