U.S. Trade Representative: The EU's retaliation ignores the national security needs of the U.S.

Foreks - Jamieson Greer, the U.S. Trade Representative, stated that the European Union's retaliation against President Donald Trump's strengthened steel and aluminum tariffs demonstrates that the union’s trade policies "do not align with reality."

Greer noted that the EU's retaliatory tariffs on $28 billion worth of U.S. goods contradict the U.S. resistance to collaborative efforts with the EU to address global overcapacity in metals. He emphasized, "The EU's punitive actions completely disregard U.S. national security obligations and international security, further indicating that the EU's trade and economic policies are out of touch with reality."
