Honda Cautious About New Electric Vehicle Production Ahead of Trump's Presidency
In a statement, Noriya Kaihara, Vice President of Honda Motor, expressed that Honda will proceed cautiously in starting the production of new electric vehicles due to uncertainties surrounding President Donald Trump's industrial policy. Speaking at the CES technology conference in Las Vegas, Kaihara said, "Because of Trump’s initiatives, we may be very careful about how we start the production of upcoming electric models." She also indicated that Honda would take a cautious approach regarding its battery plant plans in Canada, considering government regulations and trends in the electric vehicle market, stating, "We may need to somehow delay starting the production of electric vehicle models." Earlier in the conference, the automaker showcased prototypes of upcoming Honda electric vehicles, including an SUV model set to launch in the North American market in the first half of 2026.
