Germany Appoints Jörg Kukies as Finance Minister

Forex - Olaf Scholz's chief economic advisor Jörg Kukies has become Germany's new finance minister just hours after the Chancellor relieved Christian Lindner of his duties. A former Goldman Sachs banker, Kukies has been working with Scholz since 2018 when he was appointed as the state secretary in the finance ministry during Scholz's tenure as finance minister. According to reports, when Scholz became Chancellor in 2021, he appointed Kukies as his chief economic advisor. Kukies has also served as Germany's "Sherpa" at international summits such as the G7 and G20 meetings.
