Rail Traffic Volume in the U.S. Rises by 6.6%
In the week ending November 2, the total volume of rail transportation in the U.S. increased by 6.6% compared to the same week last year. According to data released by the Association of American Railroads (AAR), total rail freight transportation amounted to 516,743 carloads. Carload freight transportation rose by 1.9% to 228,635 carloads, while intermodal freight transportation increased by 10.7% to 288,108 carloads. In the same week, the amount of coal transported by rail in the U.S. decreased by 12.2% to 57,314 carloads.
