Kacır: Our R&D Spending Has Reached $16 Billion
The Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, stated that a record was achieved in R&D activities in 2023, noting, "Our R&D expenditures have risen from $12 billion to $16 billion, while our human resources have reached 291,000 with an increase of 19,000 people. The increase in the share of private sector R&D expenditures demonstrates the success of the steps we have taken in this area. Turkey is transforming into a global R&D hub with its technoparks, R&D and design centers, and strong research and development human resources."
Minister Kacır highlighted this achievement in a statement on social media platform X, expressing, "We broke records in our R&D activities in 2023. Our R&D expenditures have increased from $12 billion to $16 billion, and our human resources have grown by 19,000 to reach 291,000. The rising share of our private sector's R&D expenditures shows the success of the steps we have taken in this field. Turkey is becoming a global R&D hub with its technoparks, R&D and design centers, and strong research and development human resources. With our HIT-30, Hamle, Green - Digital Transformation Support Programs, and investment incentives, Turkey’s rise in high technology will continue unabated."
