Turkish Natural Stones Meet Global Architects in Singapore

Foreks - Turkish Stones brought Turkish natural stones to the global architecture sector at the World Architecture Festival 2024, one of the most prestigious architecture events in the world, held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from November 6-8. The gathering, attended by distinguished architects, academics, and industry professionals from various countries, allowed Turkish Stones to effectively promote its support for the "Best Use of Stone" category, where qualified projects utilizing natural stone were assessed and awarded by an international jury.

To enhance the global recognition and brand value of Turkish natural stones, Turkish Stones, a Turquality project supported by the Istanbul Mineral Exporters Association (İMİB), the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAİB), and the Aegean Mineral Exporters Association (EMİB), connected with world architects at WAF 2024.

Turkish Stones aims to promote the rich stone potential of Anatolia, the homeland of stone, alongside its advanced industrial infrastructure, production lines supported by digital technologies, and the craftsmanship that can produce fine details by hand. Through projects like participation in the World Architecture Festival, Turkish Stones seeks to make strides in architecture, interior design, landscape design, urban design, and art.

The World Architecture Festival is an international architecture event that brings together architects, interior designers, and industry professionals from nearly every country each year. It not only showcases the world's most creative architectural and interior design projects and hosts inspiring discussions but also celebrates excellence in architecture by presenting prestigious awards to leading designs. This year, at the festival held from November 6-8 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, finalists presented their projects to a jury of 175 experts, and awards were given to leading designs in a total of 43 categories.

Turkish Stones Sponsored "Best Use of Stone Award"! This year, Turkish Stones, the sponsor of the "Best Use of Stone" award within the framework of the World Architecture Festival, facilitated the evaluation by an international jury of seven completed architectural and interior design projects that showcase innovative and exemplary applications of stone, a versatile, enduring, and sustainable material. After the evaluation by a jury consisting of Architect Yasemin Şener, the founder of pRchitect Media & Communications, Architect Simon Doody, a partner at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, and Architect Tim Kwan, the founding partner of Office AIO, the WAF 2024 "Best Use of Stone" category award was presented to "OH HO Residence" by Play Architecture in India.

The Turkish Stones Stand Became the Center of Attention for Architects... The special stand of Turkish Stones, which conveys the unique qualities of Turkish natural stones and the 12,000-year-old ancient heritage of stone in Anatolia, became the center of attention for participants in the festival area. The stand, featuring examples of Turkish stones that have become brands worldwide, showcased the journey of Turkish natural stones through time on a large screen, while architects visiting the stand were offered unique experiences with VR glasses. Throughout the event, İMİB Board Chairman Eyüp Batal, İMİB Board Member Funda Bekişoğlu, BAİB Board Member Ahmet Tekin, EMİB Board Members Mehmet Şen and Efe Nalbantoğlu, İMİB TIM Delegate Orçun Kocaman, and İMMİB Secretary General Dr. Armağan Vurdu accompanied all visitors.

On the second day of the event, a cocktail event was held at the Turkish Stones stand, which was honored by visits from the Turkish Ambassador to Singapore Mehmet Burçin Gönenli and Turkish Trade Attaché Mihriban Esin Arslan, bringing together leading figures in the natural stone and architecture sectors. Following the cocktail event, Turkish Ambassador Mr. Mehmet Burçin Gönenli hosted Turkish Stones officials and architects attending the festival from Turkey at a special invitation at the Embassy Residence.

The Turkish Stones stand served as a meeting point throughout the event for representatives from architecture firms participating in the festival from Turkey, including AOMTD, BAB Architects, Bilgin Architects, Dome+Partners, DS Landscape & Architecture, EAA-Emre Arolat Architecture, Erkal Architects, GAD Architecture, GEOMIM, Iglo Architects, KG Mimarlık, Koop Architects, Ofisvesaire, and Zoom/TPU.
